Beleaguered Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has said the club's woeful run of five successive defeats since he took charge of the troubled club should not damage his managerial reputation. Chelsea suffered another embarrassing result in a woeful season as Brentford won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, April 26.
Lampard has been unable to stop the club's bad form since replacing the sacked Graham Potter, who was only hired in September following Thomas Tuchel’s shock dismissal. Lampard is only in charge of the club till the end of this season as he is in his second spell as Chelsea boss after previously being sacked by former owner Roman Abramovich in 2021.
Lampard’s reputation as a coach is already in tatters as he was sacked at Everton in January, with the team mired in a relegation battle. With 11th placed Chelsea in danger of finishing outside the top half of the Premier League for the first time since 1996, Lampard says potential employers must realise the mess the club was already in prior to his return.
Chelsea have failed to score in four of Lampard’s five matches as he struggles to make do with co-owner Todd Boehly’s £550 million ($684 million) spending spree in the last 11 months.
